Tips For Helping You Find a Babysitter
By Jane Worthington

To everyone else in the world, it may seem like New York City offers everything you need and more. This East Coast city is huge, so you never lack friends; is a fashion capital, so you never lack beautiful clothing; and has delicious pizza and bagels, so you never lack tasty food for every meal. Nevertheless, this city may seem too big at times. Unlike a small rural town where you know who lives in every house from one end of the street to the other, strangers are around every corner in New York City. In all likelihood, you may never see the person you stood next to on the subway that morning again or ride in that pink taxi a second time. For many who live in New York City, the constant changes are what make this city exciting and vibrant.

However, this city can be quite frustrating and, although every resource is at your fingertips, the number of choices you have can make things even more difficult! Have you ever had to find a babysitter in New York? This task may not sound time-consuming and trying, but many people would tell you that it is harder than it looks. In this circumstance, the advantage goes to those in the smaller towns. Since you know all your neighbors, it is easy to find someone who is willing to watch your children for a few hours often free of charge!

This scenario is much rarer in the Big Apple. Do you even know some of your neighbors? It is so easy to be wrapped up in work and your family that you have very little time to socialize. Nevertheless, New York families need babysitters too and they do exist! You just need to know where to find them. The two easiest places to find a babysitter are over the internet or on a college campus. Several websites are in place to help you find qualified sitters in your area. Simply call up their references and invite them down for a personal interview. It could not be easier! If you are uncomfortable with that scenario, however, I recommend that you call the career services office of the nearest university. Ask for a list of students who are willing to offer babysitting services in the area. College students always need extra money and many of the girls already have years of experience. You will most likely find someone who is perfect!

Do not stress out about finding a great babysitter in New York. The task is not difficult as long as you know where to look!
